Discord Connection Flows
TrucklineMP uses Discord in several ways. They solve different problems and do not replace each other.

1. Account connection (Settings)
Section titled “1. Account connection (Settings)”Path: trucklinemp.com → Settings → Connections → Connect Discord
Use for:
- Linking Discord to your TrucklineMP identity
- Account recovery options
- Discord notification DMs
Does not:
- Grant Linked Roles on a Discord server
- Verify a VTC server on your profile
- Automatically add roles anywhere
You can disconnect and reconnect from Connections unless staff restrictions apply.
2. Linked Roles (Discord server)
Section titled “2. Linked Roles (Discord server)”Path: Discord → Server menu → Linked Roles → connect TrucklineMP
Use for:
- Server admins requiring members to prove they have a TrucklineMP account
- Optional TrucklineMP staff check for staff-only channels
- Gating channels behind a verified role
Does not:
- Replace website Connections linking for DMs (though the same Discord account should be used)
- Show a VTC badge on trucklinemp.com
- Run
/verify-serverfor VTC ownership
Members must opt in per server. Roles are not assigned silently.

3. VTC server verification
Section titled “3. VTC server verification”Path: VTC Manage → General Settings → generate token → Discord /verify-server
Use for:
- Displaying your VTC’s official Discord on your TrucklineMP profile
- Running
/vtcin that server to show company info - Proving server ownership to visitors on the website
Requires:
- VTC owner or staff with Discord settings permission
- TrucklineMP bot installed in the server
- Administrator permission in Discord to run
/verify-server
Does not:
- Configure Linked Roles (do that separately in Discord role settings)
- Link members’ personal accounts unless they also use Linked Roles or Connections

4. Verified VTC role (main server)
Section titled “4. Verified VTC role (main server)”Path: Main TrucklineMP Discord → Verified VTC role channel → Request Role
Use for:
- Verified VTC owners (and one optional manager) who want a leadership role on the official TrucklineMP Discord
- Recognition separate from your own VTC’s Discord server
Requires:
- Verified VTC Program status
- The Verified Linked Role on the main server
- VTC owner submits the request via Modbot (optional manager Discord user ID)
Does not:
- Verify your VTC’s Discord server on your profile (use flow 3)
- Replace Linked Roles on community servers

Same Discord account everywhere
Section titled “Same Discord account everywhere”Use one Discord account for Connections, Linked Roles, and verification. Mismatched accounts cause “not linked” errors in /profile and failed role checks.
